TODAY’S SELECTIONS
TRIPLER
13.30 – Newcastle – Black Abbey. Only its’ 2nd race over jumps but did well last time out. Couple of dangerous adversaries. My choice – SPLIT.
14.50 – Kempton – Amarillo Star. 4 Runners in this race but it’s a very close thing. Being very cautious and with generous Place Odds on offer (2 to be placed in this one,) I am going for another SPLIT.
17.25 – Wolverhampton – Rideson. 11 Runners in this “leg it to the tape” flat race. Currently heading the betting, there are a couple of challengers further down in the betting but with exceptional write ups. I’m being cautious again. SPLIT.

RATCHET
10% of Bank as usual, but I will have a tinker around with my stake to see if I can hit 2.5% profit with a smaller stake. (£Stake x Odds – £Stake x 0.95 will show your profit.)
After a rough few days, I fully expect & hope that by taking a slightly more cautious stance, my profits will start rising again. I hope Race 1 delivers as it will mean I have beaten target straight away.
YESTERDAY’S SUMMARY
13.15 – Ayr – Escaria Ten. Ours is in good form & is the favourite. WIN. Escaria Ten held up well & won.
13.50 – Ayr – Dali Mail. I chose a WIN. Only 5 runners & our French horse fell 4 fences from home. Main thing is I hope the horse is OK but it lost my bet.
15.20 – Thurles – Elimay. I chose a WIN. Our namesake of the stunning Beverly Hillbillies actress won.
2 wins out of 3 races, so how did I get on?
TRIPLER – I hit my 2.5% on Race 1 so no more Tripler bets for me today.
OBAD – Dali Mail fell so a loss on OBAD.
RATCHET – Won on Race 1 but under target slightly. I really should have stopped as it was a return of just over 2% but I was greedy! I went for Race 2 which damn well fell . This meant a bet on Race 3 which won, but because of Dali Mail, I lost slightly on Ratchet. I really wish I would listen to my own rules but when there are only 5 runners & ours is right at the top, it’s all too easy to think “A dead cert.”
Overall,a small winning day.
From now on, I’m going to stick RIGIDLY to my own rules & not get carried away.
