15th June 2021 + Doc’s Fav Goldmine + Summary

** House Notes** Be careful if races start close to each other. You may not get the results of the race you placed a bet on before the next race starts, so do try to either watch a Live Feed of the race or “watch” the race in real-time at Betfair. **

For Tripler, OBAD, and Ratchet, I use the 3 selections generated by the HRP software, assess each one, and then say what I am going to do. Obviously, you can make your own decisions as to what you think the outcomes will be. Sometimes, the result of a previous race will dictate whether I stick with my predictions or not.

My new system, Doc’s Fav Goldmine, is coming along nicely and I have had several winners on the spin. My small stakes are increasing in size, due to a constant supply of winning selections 🙂 My DFG Bank is now really building nicely. As it’s 10% of the Betting Bank, any losses do hit hard but have always caught up rapidly before moving ahead again.

I stop betting if I hit my target of 2.5% (or as near as dammit.) Use your common sense – if you get close to your personal target, it’s your decision as to whether you want to carry on & go for it. Personally, I learned the harsh lesson of being greedy, and many times, when just under my target, I have “Gone for it,” only to lose the lot chasing bigger profits.

It’s your call as to whether you take the early odds, hoping they will then go down, or wait until nearer the off hoping the odds have increased. The key thing to remember is a winner (or winners) at odds totaling 1.25 or above will hit your Daily Target. A profit of 2.5% per day will double your Bank in a month.

STAY SAFE FELLAS.

Bad news for our Scottish friends. Their goalie is still trying to extricate himself from the net, some 20 hours after the match.

TODAY’S “JOCKEY OF THE DAY”: Ryan O’Neal. 16.30. Thirsk. Asjad.

Ryan, now 80 years young but riding like a 25-year-old, is our pick for today. He’s onboard Asjad in the 16.30 at Thirsk. As seen pictured above with a 10-month-old Frankie Dettori growing out of his neck, Frankie was surgically removed at the age of 10 and forged a somewhat successful racing career himself. Our Ryan is set to defy the Peyton Place market and go all the way and win. (Something he bragged about with ex-partner, Farrah Fawcett.) Ryan had a fun sense of humour and often referred to Ms. Fawcett as “Tap”. That always makes our Ryan chuckle. It’s Ryan all the way. Come on sunshine, you can and will do it.

TODAY’S HRP SELECTIONS

TRIPLER

14.30 – Ascot – Palace Pier. (84) – When the horse is so far up the ratings it has almost disappeared AND it has Frankie Dettori on board, there is only one conclusion. WIN.

16.05 – Stratford – Beholden. (62) – Didn’t have the most fluent of races last time out but hopefully, the experience will do him good. However, Trailboss is a huge obstacle to overcome. SPLIT.

16.30 – Thirsk – Asjad. (72) – The odds don’t justify how close this race will be. Having said that, our selection ran really well recently and I expect him to run as well, if not better. WIN.

OBAD

14.30 – Ascot – Palace Pier. (84) – See Above.

RATCHET – Instructions for use: http://bit.ly/35tpfR

DOC’S FAV GOLDMINE – All selections are in the PLACE market unless otherwise stated. Stop at a profit of 2.5% per day. (Or as near as.) Use 10% of your Bank as stake. If a loss happens, keep to the last stake and not 10% of the new, reduced Bank.

I am also showing the early Place Odds in brackets and the number of runners and the number of horses to be placed. It’s your decision as to whether or not you take the early odds or wait, hoping they will increase. The key thing to remember is a winner/winners at odds totaling 1.25 or above will hit your Daily Target. A profit of 2.5% per day will double your Bank every month.

Please be prepared to change your line of thinking – “on the hoof” so to speak – if the odds move dramatically. They may drift, thus making the selection a “No Bet”, or the odds may steam in, making it not worth taking the risk.

If you want to, you can omit any bets with odds below 1.25 (or thereabouts) and just concentrate on the bets over those odds. This reduces the number of bets but means if you get a winner, you have hit your target and can stop betting for the day, not having to risk any more money on another race. (It also means, however, if you get a loser, there will be fewer races left to recoup any losses.)

13.20 – Stratford – All Clenched Up. (1.27 – 9 – 3)

14.55 – Stratford – Hooper. (1.56 – 7 – 2)

16.05 – Stratford – Trailboss. (1.23 – 10 – 3)

16.30 – Thirsk – Asjad. (1.18 – 10 – 3)

YESTERDAY’S SUMMARY

TODAY’S “JOCKEY OF THE DAY” Mary, Queen of Stotts. 13.55. Carlisle. Verraux Eagle.

Because it’s Scotland’s go today against the Czech Republic, I am choosing Mary, Queen of Stotts as my jockette of the day. Mary doesn’t take kindly to losing and was secretly photographed dispatching her trainer the last time she lost. Although only 6 days old when she became Queen, she spent most of her early life studying “Ye Olde Racing Post” in France. This stood her in good stead for her jocketting career although she does favour a huge heavily embroidered dress to the standard shirt and jodhpurs. Although over 450 years old, Mary will take some stopping. I don’t think she will need to use her pistol after the race. Her trainer today is her old mucca, William Wallace.

RESULT – Mary can put her flintlock away and Willy Wallace can breathe a bit easier. She romped home in 1st place. I think her opponents feared they would be in front of the firing squad had they won. Rock on Mary Queen of Stotts.

A bit of a Hold Your Breath day. Race 1 on Tripler came 1st, but the 2nd race was a poor result. Fortunately, Race 3 came 1st. It meant a win for OBAD, but the 2nd place in Race 2 cost us a bit on Ratchet.

The real nerve-wracking was on Doc’s Fav Goldmine. I really should have taken my own advice: a very short (5-furlong) dash with a lot of runners (10) is a recipe for disaster. One false move, a bump, or an iffy start and it’s all over. That’s exactly what happened in Race 1 with a shocking 8th place – I was down straight away. Fortunately, the other 4 selections all finished in the places. I was sorely tempted to reduce my stake on Race 5 so I would simply break even for the day if it won (if it lost, it would obviously have meant a much lower loss.) However, I remembered Gav’s teachings – we are not gambling, we are using proven, set strategies. I carried on with my full stake and finished the day 4.5% UP. 🙂
